Bodrum is located on a peninsula in western Turkey, very close to the two Greek islands of Kos and Kalymnos. The city has an international flavor with restaurants, hotels, and nightlife in the top class.

The city lies on the southern side of the peninsula and is divided into various small bays with cozy beaches. The city center of Bodrum is quite small and most of what you need is within walking distance.

Bodrum is the perfect resort for everyone since the variety of activities, attractions and possibilities for relaxation is great. For those interested in history, Bodrum vicinity has a lot to offer and among other things, you will find the remains of one of the seven ancient wonders here.

Bodrum has a very interesting history behind it and the name has changed through time. At first, about the year 300 BC, the city was called Halicarnassus, but the name was changed to Petronion after some time, meaning Bodrum in Turkish. The direct translation of the word Bodrum is “basement” in English.

Archaeologists have found traces of humanity as far back as 5.000 BC and it seemed to be a popular place to live in the past. The city is also very famous historically by history’s father Herodotus was born right here in 484 BC.

In the 1920s, Bodrum was considered so remote that they started to use the resort as a place of banishment, and this may have been the reason for a lot of artists and bohemians moving to the city in 1970s. And it was during this decade that Bodrum was developed and got his nickname, “St. Tropez of Turkey” and today many Turkish celebrities and cultural figures live here.
